Project Abstract

In the computer age, software is used in all facets of life. In the manufacturing world, computer -aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software plays an enormous role in developing a finished product. CAD software is used to design each part with meticulous detail; some CAD software, such as SolidWorks and Fusion360, even allow the user to simulate how the part would function. CAM software is then used to instruct a machine to turn a piece of material into the part. My project examines the latest processes using CAD/CAM software by creating an original product as well as working with and interviewing the members of the 2017 ASU Polytechnic SAE Baja team. Final analysis of how they use CAD/CAM software to assist in developing the 2017 Baja car, as well as any limitations of the software, will be included.
